It all started in a small apartment in Lower Manhattan in 1902. Chester Theodore Munroe started managing small office spaces and tenament quarters for small local real estate firms. With the skyscraper boom well underway, Chester took a chance on rapid growth for his small company and sought new business with major players in the ever-growing Manhattan area.
Growing his small company into what would become a dominant force in the real etstate and property management field, Chester devised a "hail-Mary" strategy to garner more business. It took many long and painstaking months for his strategy to come to fruition. But his dedication, hardwork and patience finally paid off.
By 1914 Chester was managing well over 1 million square feet of office space, retail space and apartments combined. He took a 1200 s.f. office on the 8th floor of an office building he managed. He also took a partner. His friend and mentor Colonel Jameson Evans whom Chester knew from his days in the U.S. Army.
Throughout the late 20th Century, Property Management has had it's share of bumps and bruises. We've all felt the volatility of the changing times.
