Coach Muir is entering his fifth year as a Head Wrestling Coach at West Valley High School. In that time, he has coached 18 Master's Tournament placers and a CIF State placer, with more to come.
Before taking on the head coaching position at West Valley, he gained extensive experience across multiple levels of competition. He spent six years as an assistant coaching in the (NSCIF) section and three years coaching in the (SSCIF) section, in addition to a year at the college level where he achieved an NAIA placer. Throughout his assistant coaching career, he has developed multiple Masters Tournament placers and a 2x CIF State Runner-up.
As an athlete, Coach Muir wrestled for Dickinson State University where he was a NAIA National Qualifier his freshman year. He then transferred to Montana State University-Northern, here he was also a NAIA National Qualifier as well, and helped his team become the 2004 NAIA National Champions. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Diesel Technology, along with Associates degree in Diesel Technology. He also attending Orange Coast College in California for his Associates degree in Aviation.
In high school, he was a standout athlete in Montana, Multiple sports person and highly awarded athlete. He was a 3x Montana state placer, taking 4th as a Freshman and 5th as a Junior for Darby High School. His senior year he attended Ronan High School were he was a Montana State Runner up.
