Clever

We have integrated almost every online product that we use now with Clever.  By going to clever.com/in/wv students can login using their badge or their Google account.  Once logged in, they can access all other digital products with no additional logins needed.

KAMI

KAMI is Chrome Extension that can be used to mark up a PDF worksheet on your Chromebook.  Below is a link to the Chrome Extension and a video showing you how to use it.

Student Webmail

If you have a mobile device, getting your school email onto it can be quite simple.  Start by downloading the Outlook app and use the instructions below. You can also acess your mail directly from the WV website.

Formative

Khan Mappers

Fluency Tutor for Google

Productivity Tools for Chromebooks

Cameras

If you need to take a photo or create a short video on your Chromebook, you can use the Camera app that is already installed.  The tutorial below walks you through finding the camera app, pinning it to the taskbar, migrating your photos to your Google Drive (if needed), and finding your photos.  The second tutorial walks you through how to insert a photo into a Google Slides presentation using your Chromebook.

Emoji Keyboard

There are several different ways to include emojis on your Chromebook.  Two options to consider are to enable them on your computer, and the other is to install a Chrome extension.  Instructions for both are given below:

Screencasting

With the Screencastify Chrome extension, you can record your own screen, add yourself picture-in-picture in the corner, or record yourself/your project full screen. Videos save directly to your Google Drive.

Audio Recording

There are a couple of options to consider. Neither need a login or password, but one seems to have more options than the other.  Both links are below.

Capturing screenshots on a Chromebook is a little different than on a Windows computer.  Below is a set of instructions.

Voice Typing

In Google Docs, you can use the Voice Typing feature to quickly get your thoughts down!

Editing Videos 

Walton-Verona has purchased a block of licenses for the premium version of WeVideo, and as a student you are welcome to use one of those licenses temporarily to build and export your project!  Simply ask your teacher to contact Mrs. Jackson at the high school to request a login and password to get started on your project.

Editing Photos 

There are several photo editing options online.  One of the most feature-rich is pixlr.com.  It requires no account.  Below you will find a link to it along with  links to YouTube tutorials. Follow the links for Pixlr X for quick touch-ups like cropping, adding text and filters.  Follow the links for Pixlr E for a more advanced version of Pixlr that is similar to PhotoShop.

Creating Publications

Canva is an online resource that allows you to make colorful and creative posters, infographics, brochures, Instagram-like photos, marketing images, banners, flyers and newsletters.  Use your school Google account to login, and start creating!

Presentations 

Google Slides is one of the best tools for basic presentations.  When you are done building your presentation, you also use Screencastify to record yourself presenting it, and then upload the movie of you giving your presentation!

The Canvas app is a great place to doodle, work out a problem, or draw a diagram.

If you'd like to work by yourself or collaborate with others on a whiteboard, Google Jamboard is a tool you can use to create multiple pages in a single document.

Chrome Extensions for Dyslexia, ADHD and Emerging Readers

HelperBird

HelperBird is a super useful Chrome extension that you can install to help students who have certain obstacles to learning.  This extension features to help with dyslexia, color blindness, distracted reading, and also features a dictionary, speech-to-text and more!

Read & Write Chrome Text-to-Speech

Read and Write Chrome is a Chrome extension that you can install.  It creates a text-to-speech screen reader on your Chromebook.
