You are essentially tricking the game into storing its massive data files on your external SSD instead of your Mac's internal drive. By self signing the app, you grant it permission to run despite its modified state, and the "symbolic link" acts as a digital tunnel that redirects the game's file requests to the external storage. This allows you to play the game without sacrificing significant space on your primary hard drive.
Note From @_kod(Discord): I haven't personally verified if this method works. So if you find anything Suspicious or if it doesn't work, please ping me on Wuwa Official Discord
Disabled Features: Because the original developer signature is replaced, Apple ID login and in-game purchases will not work.
Drive Dependency: The game will not launch if the external SSD is disconnected.
Updates: There is a high chance that the game won't launch after a patch update. (3.2->3.3)
Experimental Method: This method is experimental and has not been verified by others as of writing this. Proceeded at your own risks.
Install the game client to your Applications folder or any preferred location on your Mac.
Open Terminal.
Run the following command (replace the path if your game is in a different location):
3. Enter your Mac password when prompted (characters will not appear as you type).
Launch the game.
Let it run for 10-20 seconds until the login/download screen appears.
Quit the game. This ensures the Resources folder has been created in your Library.
On your External SSD, create a folder named WutheringWaves.
Open Finder and press Command + Shift + G.
Paste: ~/Library/Client/Saved and press Enter.
Locate the Resources folder.
Move (drag and drop) this Resources folder into the WutheringWaves folder on your External SSD.
In Terminal, run the following command (replace YourSSD and YourUser with your actual names):
Navigate back to /Users/YourUser/Library/Client/Saved.
You should see a folder icon for Resources with a small alias arrow.
Double-click it; if it opens the folder on your External SSD, it is working.
Launch the game. It will now detect the path and begin downloading all high-resolution assets directly to your external SSD.
If everything is set up correctly, it should download the resources to the external SSD
