About WUSB Sports

For starters, we cover Stony Brook Football, Hockey (ACHA), Men's and Women's Basketball, Men's and Women's Lacrosse, Softball and Baseball. 

We are the longtime home of Stony Brook sports, carrying Stony Brook games since our FM transmitter first signed on in 1977. Most importantly, we've been there since the first Division I men's lacrosse broadcast versus Notre Dame in 1989, the premiere men's basketball contest vs. St. John's in 1999, and the first NCAA football game in 1983. We've covered it all and continue to do so.

The WUSB Sports Department hosts the longest-running sports call-in program on Long Island and is one of the longest-running sports programs anywhere. The Sports Section has been in the Sunday 10 pm slot since 1981, going to two hours in 1992. It's been the place to go for insights on Stony Brook and other sports you can't find anywhere else. We do things a little differently like the rest of WUSB, and we're damn proud of it!
