"A Letter to the Tiles"
A few years ago, I began to notice you,
and gradually became accustomed to searching for you in the everyday.
Time weathered entire walls of tile,
only to see them flake away—
falling into old houses, drains by the roadside, and forgotten ruins.
You stayed—
In the frame of my camera,
in the lens of my eye,
in the palm of my hand.
I don’t know how long I’ll go on liking you,
but you always seem to leave a trace
in the folds of time.
So I write you down,
draw you out,
piece you together—
hoping someone else might find you too,
in those hidden, quiet corners.
on becoming a memory plasterer...
