The school was founded in July 1996 and started enrolling students in the same year. Before the school building was completed, it only recruited first-year freshmen. All teachers and students temporarily took classes in the classrooms of Gueinan Elementary School. It was not until January  1998 that it moved to the new campus. It was only in August 1998 that all six grades of students were enrolled.

Because the school was located in an emerging community in Gueiren at that time, with extremely convenient transportation and a gathering of talents , it was a high-quality learning place for students. So it attracted many students to study there. Thanks to the careful management of successive principals and the collective efforts of all teachers in the school, it has been the largest and distinctive school in the local area for many years.

The incumbent principal is Mr. Xu Qingyang.
