A project that was part of AIAA, I was assigned with a team of 4 to plan and design a working quadcopter to participate against other teams. We decided on a design that could change the position of its arms to fit both a H, X, and HX wing design. My main contributions were the planning and assembling of the quadcopter. Â

Although it was built, sadly it never took flight due to the lack of working electronics and planning by project leads. Still a very great experience in learning SOLIDWORKS, working with other engineers, and building in a workshop.

Hovercraft
Hovercraft
A project that was part of AIAA, I was taught the basics of how to design a hovercraft, then given free rein to plan out my own hovercraft design for a certain task. With the help of the project lead, this idea was able to be transferred into a viable model in SOLIDWORKS. Using provided materials and a laser cutter, I was able to cut out my designed parts, then assembled them into a fully working hovercraft.

With this first hovercraft, the task was to participate in a jousting tournament against other hovercrafts. Since one of the possible victory conditions was disabling the other hovercraft, I decided to go full BattleBots and created a model fit for destruction. It worked as intended, as allowing it to spin and reach max speed allowed it to be almost impenetrable while also doing massive damage. The main downside is that I was super ambitious, so although I created what I intended, I didn't account for its difficulty in control due to its weight and brittle support of the fans, which led to my defeat when the enemy charged at me and I was unable to maneuver out of the way in time, leading into a good hit on one of my fans, breaking it apart. However, having my first major build turning into a product like this makes me very proud of what I accomplished.Â

A project of IEEE, the idea was to try and build a working robotic arm that could mimic human mobility and be remotely controlled by a user via sensors on a wearable apparatus. I joined a massive group of passionate people, helped in the research of possible implementations such as electromyography and VR googles, and planning of funding and viable materials to bring this idea into life.

Although during my time there we only barely got to the stage of prototypes, it still was a great experience of working with multiple other engineers in completely researching and figuring out the best way to tackle a problem, as well as learning a bit more about different sensors.

Knightro's Gambit
Knightro's Gambit
A collaboration project of IEEE and UCFAI, the goal was to build an automated chessboard, where a user could play against an AI integrated into the chessboard and move its own pieces using an electromagnet and computer vision. I joined the hardware team and have helped with the planning of useful protocols to implement in the code.

While operations are currently halted, we have almost finished with both the final chessboard and also in the process of training the AI. With all that, I learned more about working with a group not only in research but also in slowly creating a working model. All that would be needed to fully finish is adding a camera and necessary vision to the chessboard and connecting the computer vision to the integrated AI.

A final project for EGN 1007, the task was to join a team and build a boat that could carry a naval orange around the fountain at the UCF Millican Hall, while staying under $80. Our team did the research and cost analysis, and once we had our idea, bought our materials and constructed our boat. The end result was a functional and elegant boat that could easily traverse through the water with ease. While I was involved in almost everything, my main contributions was the CAD model and programming of the given TI RSLK which was used to control and navigate our boat.

Due to all of the clubs and projects I had joined, I was now the most knowledgeable on the team, so it was an interesting experience to be designated the one to single-handily do certain tasks. Overall, although our design might be simple, our methods to make it sleek and function properly makes this into an accomplished final product.

Home Surveillance Security System
As the final project for EGN 4060, the requirement was to choose a topic dealing with the application and theories of intelligent robotics and build a demonstration of that topic. My team and I decided on a surveillance security system that would track motion using its camera to follow the motion and record it on video, which then gets sent to another device as an email for video storage.

Final Build of Prototype
This system was built using a Raspberry Pi connected to a Pi Camera Module with an Arducam Camera Pan/Tilt Platform for video collection. To detect the motion, we placed multiple PIR Motion Sensors that would signal the servos in the camera platform to pan toward the motion while turning on the camera for recording. Once finished the recording is then sent to another device via UDP, where it is stored as a h264 file for later viewing.
