A independent project to share information and updates about Washington Township with its residents.
The Washington Transparency Project was created to make local government meetings and information more accessible to residents. By recording and sharing public meetings, the goal is to help more people stay informed about the decisions shaping Washington Township.
My name is Camillia (Cam) Spadaccini, and I’m a Washington Township resident and mom. Like many people in town, I started paying closer attention to our local government as the Township Committee continued approving high-density development projects. As these decisions were being made, I had the same questions many others did: What will this mean for our schools, our environment, our property taxes, our emergency services, our roads, and the future of our community?
Finding answers wasn’t always easy. Information could be difficult to locate, and clear explanations were often hard to come by. I started attending more meetings to stay informed, but like many parents, that wasn’t always possible, especially when childcare wasn’t available. I asked the Township Committee several times about streaming meetings to make them more accessible to residents, but was told it wasn’t feasible.
So, I decided to do something about it. With the help of a neighbor, we started recording public meetings so residents could watch them on their own time. That effort eventually became The Washington Transparency Project.
The goal is simple: to make public information easier to access and help residents stay informed about the decisions shaping Washington Township.
