“What the Opportunity Gap Hides” is a podcast series that examines public school inequity from a historical, regional, theoretical, developmental, education policy, and public policy framework. In this series, I will attempt to offer practical strategies which teacher-activists and parent-activists can use to combat phenomena that drive inequity in American public schools.
Alison studied Education Policy and Early Childhood Education at Hampshire College. She entered Hampshire in the F18 class and graduated in S21. While completing this project, Alison was also working towards her teacher licensure. She will graduate with an Early Childhood Massachusetts Teacher Licensure with a Sheltered English Immersion endorsement from Mount Holyoke College. She did her student teaching remotely during the pandemic (with hybrid students) at an elementary school in Holyoke MA. Next fall, she will be a full-time teacher in an urban public school in the midwest.
