Lusaka, Zambia, 16-24, August 2025
Served as FAO technical lead for a high-level mission in Zambia supporting efforts to advance antimicrobial use (AMU) mitigation in livestock. The mission contextualized FAO’s microeconomic optimization framework within Farmer Field School (FFS) programmes and supported its application under the RENOFARM initiative (Reducing the Need for Antimicrobials in Agrifood Systems), aligned with national AMR priorities. Senior-level policy dialogue and technical discussions with line ministries (Livestock, Health), national public health authorities, academia, development partners, producer organizations, and the private sector contributed to consensus on FFS as a key delivery mechanism for AMU reduction, and on next-step analytical work to assess behavioral change, productivity impacts, and investment implications.
Training and Capacity Building on Productivity and Efficiency Analysis in Livestock Production
Hanoi, Vietnam, 3-7 July 2023
Delivered hands-on capacity-building training for the General Statistics Office of Vietnam (GSO) and the Institute of Policy and Strategy for Agriculture and Rural Development (IPSARD) on productivity and efficiency analysis in the livestock sector, with a strong focus on Stochastic Frontier Models (SFM/SFA) using STATA. The training followed a structured syllabus combining economic theory, applied econometrics, and policy applications, covering data management, production theory, stochastic frontier estimation (cross-sectional and panel), and interpretation of results for policy design. Practical sessions used Vietnamese household and agricultural datasets, and emphasized linking empirical evidence to strategic planning, investment prioritization, and livestock sector transformation.
