Tensor Computation and Machine Learning

(TCML)

November 17 and 18, 2023

About the Workshop

Tensor is a type of data structure used in machine learning to represent various objects, including scalars, vectors, arrays, and matrices. Tensors have made a name for itself in the IT industry after Google’s flagship Machine Learning library- TensorFlow. Recently, tensors become popular in machine learning and data science, where they are employed to approach a diverse number of difficult learning and analysis tasks. (i.e., learning on multi-relational data and large-scale knowledge bases, recommendation systems, computer vision, neuroimaging, or analyzing time-varying networks). The success of tensor computations and decompositions is strongly related to their ability to efficiently model, analyse and predict data with multiple modalities.

This workshop aims to bring together experts from different communities working on tensor methods and their applications, which will serve as a basis for an interdisciplinary exchange of methods, ideas, and techniques, to develop a deeper understanding of tensor methods in machine learning, further advance existing approaches and enable new approaches to important problems.

This workshop will feature introductory talks from leading experts in these fields. Further, the workshop will consist of a few contributed talks and poster sessions covering important work and recent developments in tensor methods in machine learning and data sciences. Furthermore, the workshop will include open discussion sessions to encourage the exchange of ideas and the development of a shared understanding of problems and methods among the workshop participants.
