Fun with lines

You can use nontraditional materials like cereal or cracker boxes to draw on.

Lines can be a lot of fun. This is a fun way to control your drawing lines. You can use paper and pencil or what ever supplies you have. I used a cracker box, fine and extra fine sharpie markers. (You are not limited to making this exact. Each one will look different and don't be afraid to mix it up with different shapes. See the other examples. I had fun making these. I hope you do, too.)

  1. Start by making an outline of your boarders. Mine made a square.

  2. Put a straight line through the center of your picture.

  3. Put curved lines from outer corner to center line.

  4. Starting from a point where lines meet each other. I started from a center curved line. Start with your line on start line and end your line around 1/4", one forth of an inch, when you meet another line, in this case a boarder line.

  5. Next line will start from the first line you made. It will start tight and end when it meets the next line out the same 1/4" distance.

  6. Repeat your lines until you fill the space.

  7. Do the above process until every space is filled.

  8. You can shade your shapes by starting on one side. I chose the narrow end. Your lines create an optical illusion .

  9. I took it a step farther and found birds in one of the drawings. I traced a votive candle holder to make circles to mix the start lines up. Don't be afraid to mix it up and have fun.

  1. Outline.

2. Straight line near center.

3. Add curved lines.

3. Curved lines on other half.

4. Start line on a line and travel it ending 1/4" at next line you come to, boarder line in example.

5. Next line starts from the first line made . Starting close, following the the shape of line traveling and ending 1/4" away. Gradually distancing the line as you travel.

5. Continue following lines.

6. Continue until the space is filled.

6. Continue filling the open spaces in each section.

6. Continue.

6. Continue.

6. Continue.

7. Every space is filled.

8. You can add lines inside each shape you created to shade it.

Mixing this technique by using to create an animal and backgrounds.backgrounds.

variation of start lines. Diagonal lines were added.

Circle added to start lines.

More circles added to start lines. I see birds.
