The WSA Global Congress is a catalyst platform to share learnings. It promotes an attitude of social awareness and how to look at the world, a global mechanism bringing together hidden champions and Nobel prize winners, international unicorns and neighborhoods solutions, national governments and global citizens.
Gia Gaspard Taylor, a prominent figure in Trinidad and Tobago, is deeply committed to serving her country, with a focus on youth, women, and marginalized groups. With expertise in education, entrepreneurship, women's empowerment, youth development, and climate action, she actively participates in various committees and associations. As the president of the Network of Rural Women Producers Trinidad and Tobago (NRWPTT), Gia holds Special Consultative Status on the United Nations Social and Economic Council. She has served as Mayoress of Port of Spain for 17 years and is a strong advocate for women's inclusion in politics. Internationally, Gia represents Trinidad and Tobago in significant roles, including as the National Representative for the UN-UNESCO WSIS World Summit Award and a member of the UN Women Advisory Council for Latin America and the Caribbean. She contributes to UN Women initiatives, conducts workshops on Domestic Violence, and collaborates with the Trinidad and Tobago Police Community Oriented Police Section. Gia's leadership extends to various organizations, transparency initiatives, and community projects. She has received prestigious awards for her contributions, including the National Gold Award 2022 and the Friends of the Commonwealth "Women as Change Agents" Award. In addition to her executive roles, Gia remains dedicated to national service, holding positions such as Chairman of the Consumer Guidance Council and Director of the Each Community Helping Out (ECHO) Division. Gia is a Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award Holder and has played a significant role in leadership development for the Security Services.
She is currently pursuing a degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) at the University of the West Indies (U.W.I.), St. Augustine Campus in Trinidad and Tobago. Beyond her academic pursuits, Angelina's dedication to community service has endowed her with a unique vantage point on the transformative power of volunteering. This perspective has further fueled her commitment to her medical studies, with a deep-seated aspiration to become a healthcare professional. Angelina's unwavering dedication to women's empowerment and her ardent support for sustainable development initiatives underscore her resolute commitment to effecting positive change within her community. Her multifaceted efforts as the Youth Ambassador reflect a profound desire to nurture a culture of innovation, entrepreneurship, and social impact among the youth of Trinidad and Tobago, aligning seamlessly with WSA's overarching vision.
The youth presence within the NRWPTT and as part of the WSA network has seen a substantial increase. Notably, the inclusion of young women in assisting the NRWPTT and the National Expert has been particularly noteworthy. Each individual brings unique skills and expertise, contributing to a diverse and dynamic youth contingent within the organisation.
