Welcome, Nelson Tiger Community!

The WR Nelson PTA would like to welcome you to the 2024-2025 school year. The PTA (Parent-Teacher Association) is a group of volunteers consisting of parents, grandparents, teachers, school administrators, and community members that all have the same mission, to work together to positively impact the lives of all children and families.

The PTA plays a valuable role in supporting Nelson Elementary by providing the extra programs and events; beyond what the school supplies; that enrich our children’s education, physical & mental health, and their welfare & safety. The PTA promotes the collaboration and engagement of families, educators, and the community in supporting the students by providing assemblies, meetings, restaurant nights, Family Fun Nights, and so much more.

None of these events or programs would be possible without the help of amazing PTA volunteers like you. The school and its students thrive when its families and the community are involved. There are many different ways to volunteer. Please see the “Volunteer Opportunities" section below for additional volunteer information.

Joining the PTA has a variety of benefits: you’ll be informed about upcoming events, kids benefit when their parents/guardians get involved, you will have a vote in all PTA programs and events, you will have the support of the other PTA families, you will help raise funds for important projects and decide how that money is budgeted, and being involved in your child’s school is very rewarding. Membership is only $10, and there is no requirement to volunteer if you join.

The PTA is selling Spirit Wear (Tiger T-Shirts for $10) that may be worn as part of your child’s uniform, and if they wear it on Friday, they may also wear jeans. Order forms may be picked up at the front office. Please return your completed order form with your payment (checks may be made out to WR Nelson PTA) to the front office and a PTA representative will have your order ready for pickup within a few days. 

The PTA also sells fruit popsicles (paletas) for $2 each on Wednesdays after school.
