Conclusion

It is clear that standardized testing is an unjust system due to their role in increasing socioeconomic disparities among students and the movement away from critical thinking. These tests only increase the barriers that low income and marginalized students face, creating a never-ending cycle of oppression for many and making it harder for students to move up the social ladder. Not only that, but these tests do not even accurately judge a student’s ability, due to the skewed teaching styles that government policies have created, and the anxiety and stress these tests cause students, affecting their performance. In the end, standardized testing is a tool used to shove students’ into boxes and should be eliminated from school curriculum.
