Welcome to NAHS Writing Club’s first theme: Market Basket.
Market Basket has always been a standard, go-to grocery store. At North Andover, it’s been a staple--decidedly more so than Staples, but we're not here to throw shade at them. Only, potentially, at Market Basket. With the new location–that’s literally right next to the old one–we decided to take a deep dive into how Market Basket had cemented itself in NAHS history, and how it is now innovating to keep up with the times.
Naturally, the most in-our-face sub-topic is how the phrase “MB” surged in the High Schooler jargon. MB stands for Market Basket, if you boomers didn't know. Anyhoo, the store has become a NAHS student phenom.
Of course, we’ll take a step back to discuss its products and its business model (in general, and at North Andover, specifically). Additionally, we’ve striated into social sciences, with the ethics and modeling of shopping at grocery stores.
So, we hope you stick around to read a couple pieces. They’ll be energetic, nuanced (or point-blank), and range from poems to essays. From research to declarations of war. From solid facts, to liquidated facts that err on lies, to pure fantasy that you would not, could not, believe came out of a human dome.
