The workshop is intended to provide participants with a structured platform to learn the basic concepts and principles of quantum materials. Quantum materials constitute a rapidly advancing frontier in condensed matter physics and materials science, encompassing systems such as topological insulators, quantum magnets, strongly correlated electron systems, low-dimensional materials, and superconductors, etc. In recent years, India has witnessed significant expansion in research on quantum materials and technology, aligned with national initiatives such as the National Quantum Mission (NQM). However, there exists a pressing need to consolidate theoretical understanding, experimental techniques, and computational approaches in quantum materials under a unified academic platform, especially for master's students, young researchers, doctoral students, and early-career faculty members.
The proposed workshop aims to bridge this gap by providing structured exposure to contemporary developments in quantum materials, fostering interdisciplinary interactions among physicists, materials scientists, and engineers. By bringing together leading experts from academia, national laboratories, and research institutes, the workshop will serve as an effective knowledge-sharing forum and help build sustained collaborations. Furthermore, organizing such a workshop at NIT Jalandhar will strengthen regional research capacity and contribute to human resource development in strategically important areas of quantum science.
