WP Detector is a lightweight Chrome extension designed to help users instantly detect whether a website is built with WordPress, and to identify the site’s active theme and installed plugins.
We take your privacy seriously — this extension does not collect, store, or transmit any personal or browsing data.
We do not collect, log, or share any of the following:
Personal information (name, email, IP address, etc.)
Browsing history or visited URLs
Form data, cookies, or authentication tokens
Any usage analytics or telemetry
All extension activity runs entirely within your local browser.
When you click the WP Detector icon, the extension:
Temporarily reads the HTML structure of the active tab.
Searches for public WordPress indicators (e.g., /wp-content/, /wp-includes/, theme or plugin references).
Displays the detection results instantly in your browser.
No data ever leaves your device — nothing is sent to remote servers.
WP Detector requests minimal Chrome permissions:
activeTab — allows scanning only the currently opened site when the user clicks the extension icon.
scripting — injects a small, read-only detection script to identify WordPress elements.
These permissions are used solely to perform the extension’s main function and cannot access sensitive or personal data.
No data is stored, cached, or transmitted externally.
No third-party analytics, ads, or trackers are used.
WP Detector operates entirely offline once installed.
WP Detector does not integrate with or rely on any external API, analytics, or advertising platform.
WP Detector is suitable for general use and does not target or knowingly collect information from children under 13.
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the “Last updated” date and publish the new version on this page.
