The Barangay Bactad East was located in the eastern and once formerly part of Barangay Bactyad Proper (now known as Barangay Pedro T. Orata). One of the councilmen named Mariano Dela Cruz, who was assigned to Zone IV (Bactad East) seek its separation from Barangay Bactad Proper. Together with the active resident-leaders Hepolito Dela Cruz, Protacio Suyat, Sr., Efepanio Osian, Herbasio Bernal, Dominador Garcia, Francisco Untalan, as well as Florencio Manaois, the School Head of Bactad East Elementary School, were persistently work altogether to attain its severance. Through the efforts of these leaders, a Municipal Ordinance has finally authorized and approved that Bactad East is considered one Barangay of the Municipality of Urdaneta in 1964. In the same year, a special Barangay Election was held and Protacio Suyat, Sr., won as the first Barangay Captain.
GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION
Barangay Bactad East is located in the Easternmost part of Urdaneta City about seven (7) kilometers from the city proper. This Barangay Bactad East is bordered by Barangay Casantaan Riceland on the north, Barangay Pedro Orata on the west. Barangay Tiposu Riceland on the south and along the municipal road leading towards Barangay Domampot, Asingan, Pangasinan on the east.
LAND AREA / ECONOMY / PEOPLE / POPULATION
This Barangay has a total land area of 170.73 hectares with 2,237 number of individuals. Farming is the main source of living. About 70% of inhabitants are farmers, 20% are professionals while 10% belongs to labor sector. Most of its residents came from Ilocos Region and La Union provinces which is 90% speak Ilocano and 10% speak Pangasinense.
