I bought this 2007 Chrysler Grand Voyager in May 2021. She's a 2.8 diesel automatic.
It's the "Stow 'n' Go" version which means that the 5 rear seats can drop down under the floor to make a HUGE space in the back. You can drop any combination of the seats out of the way to make a really versatile vehicle.
From a full 7 seater, it's easy to make a "Days Out Car." With a couple of rear seats down, you can add a small folding table, gas cooker etc. and have a great day out at the coast with your own tea, coffee and simple cooked food.
This format also works great as a mobile office. I've fitted an 1000 watt inverter as well as a portable solar power station (charged from a 100w solar panel fitted on the roof). A mobile broadband router is also fitted for great internet connections.
With all the seats folded away under the floor, it's easy to turn it into a really comfortable cosy camper. I now use this if I'm working away as hotels (even Travelodge) are ridiclously expensive since Covid.
I much prefer staying on a campsite and enjoy the freedom. You really do meet some great other campers with stories to tell.
I always make sure the site has electric hookup wherever possible, as well as toilets and showers (although I do have a "Porta Potti" toilet and 12v hand-held shower for emergency use).
With electric hook-up I do have a remote control fan heater to keep warm. For cooking I have an electric saucepan, electric steamer frying pan, an induction hob, small slow-cooker, small air fryer and a small kettle.Â
Obviously, without electric hookup, I tend to use a double butane gas cooker. I also have a small portable gas cooker for emergency use.
