Worship Companion ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how your information is collected, used, and protected when you use the Worship Companion mobile application (the "App"), desktop versions, and web readers.
1. Information We Collect
A. Information You Provide to Us
• Account Information (Optional): You can use Worship Companion as an offline songbook without an account. If you sign in using Google Sign-In or Apple Sign-In to enable multi-device sync, we collect your name, email address, and profile picture avatar.
• User-Submitted Content: If you submit new songs or chord charts to our database, the text and musical metadata you submit are processed for inclusion in our community song library.
• Preferences & Setlists: Your favorited hymns, custom worship setlists (playlists), transpose offsets, and app settings (theme, font sizing) are saved to provide a seamless stage experience.
B. Device Permissions & System Photo Picker
To comply with Google Play and Apple App Store privacy policies, Worship Companion uses native, privacy-first system interfaces:
• Native System Photo Picker (Zero Broad Storage Permissions): The App DOES NOT request or require broad read access to your device's photo library, external storage, or all personal media files (such as READ_MEDIA_IMAGES, READ_MEDIA_VIDEO, or READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE). When you pick an image for your profile avatar or a song sheet for text extraction, the operating system's native Photo Picker dialog is invoked. Only the specific single image you choose is shared with the App.
• Camera Permission: The App requests camera access solely when you explicitly launch the "AI Hymnal Scanner" feature to photograph a printed hymnal or church bulletin. The camera is active only while the scanner viewfinder is open. No background capture or audio recording occurs.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use collected data solely to deliver the App's core functionality:
• To search, transpose, and display over 2,000+ hymns across Kannada, English, and other languages.
• To synchronize your personal worship setlists and favorites across your mobile devices, tablets, and web reader.
• To process photos of song sheets using AI OCR to extract digital text for your personal library.
• To review and publish user-submitted hymns to the global community library.
3. Third-Party Services Integration
We utilize trusted third-party providers with industry-standard security:
• Supabase: Used for secure user authentication and cloud database synchronization (PostgreSQL with Row Level Security).
• Google / Apple Authentication: Enables secure single-sign-on without storing plaintext passwords on our servers.
• Google Gemini / Cloud Vision API: When you scan a song sheet, images are securely sent via encrypted TLS to Google's vision services temporarily to extract text. Images are processed in-flight and are not used to train public models.
4. Data Storage and Security
• 100% Offline SQLCipher Storage: The core song database is stored directly on your device using SQLCipher encryption, allowing full offline access during church services and rehearsals without internet.
• Cloud Storage: Synced profile data and personal playlists are securely transmitted and encrypted in transit and at rest via Supabase.
5. Account Deletion and Data Retention
You have complete control over your personal data:
• One-Tap Account Deletion: You can delete your account at any time directly in the App by navigating to Profile > Settings > Delete Account.
• Permanent Data Purge: Tapping "Delete Account" immediately signs you out, disassociates your Google/Apple identity, and permanently removes your profile records and synced setlists from our backend.
• Local Data Wipe: Uninstalling the App or clearing app storage immediately deletes all locally cached data and preferences from your device.
6. Children's Privacy
Our App does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect new features or platform policy changes. Any updates will be posted on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date.
