Lewis Hamilton breaks silence as details emerge of Ferrari F1 testing crash
Sir Lewis Hamilton has spoken out for the first time since he crashed during pre-season testing, causing “significant damage” to his Ferrari.
The seven-time Formula 1 champion’s career with Ferrari began last week, and he has been testing some of their older cars to acclimate himself to his new team.
It got off to a shaky start, however, as he crashed into the barriers at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on Wednesday morning.
Happily, Hamilton was unhurt in the crash, and Ferrari themselves were not overly concerned, dismissing the incident as a minor annoyance and part of the new driver’s adjustment to new machinery.
However, new details have emerged about the crash, suggesting it was a little more serious than initially reported.
Hamilton reportedly lost control after hitting a pothole at Turn 12 of the Spanish Grand Prix, with his SF-23 suffering “serious” and “significant” damage to its suspension and bodywork.
