THE WORLD'S SMALLEST BURL was discovered in 2022 by Graham Douglas near a small lake south of Malcolm Point about 10 kilometres northwest of Sointula on Malcolm Island and moved to its present location in Sointula at the corner of 2nd ST & 13th AVE in the spring of 2024.The smallest burl was growing on a five year old Shore Pine tree measuring approximately 2.13 meters (7 feet) in height and 11.75 cms (4.63 inches) in diameter. The weight of the burl when it was moved was 10 grams (0.35 ounces or 0.000992233309375 tonne). It’s circumference at the widest point is 11.5 cms (4.52 inches).
