The World Rock Song Contest (WRSC) is an online musical competition, dedicated entirely to Rock and Metal music. The contest takes inspiration from the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC), a European music competition, but is open to delegations from all over the world. The objective of the WRSC is to share the passion for Rock and Metal music and to impassion new people to these genres.
The WRSC is held twice a year on the contest’s official Instagram profile, @worldrocksongcontest. For each edition, the winner of the previous edition will have the right to choose in which country the contest will be held “ideally”.
Every country from all around the world has the right to apply a delegation to compete in the WRSC. For each edition, a maximum of sixty (60) delegations is allowed.
To apply for the contest, one must send a DM to the WRSC’s official Instagram profile, @worldrocksongcontest, stating the country of origin, the name of the band, and the title of the song to be presented. Alternatively, it is possible to apply by sending an email to the the official WRSC’s email, worldrocksongcontest@gmail.com, specifying in the object:
Country of Origin - Band Name - Song Title.
Each application must be presented together with a link (preferably YouTube) to the song. Applications without any link will not be considered for the competition.
To represent a country, a band must have at least one (1) member of the band to be born or living for at least one year in the country of choice.
Each group or artist can represent only one delegation each edition.
A group or artist can represent the same delegation only twice in a row.
The list of all candidate delegations will be published on the WRSC’s official Instagram profile, @worldrocksongcontest, and on the official World Rock Song Contest’s website, sites.google.com/view/worldrocksongcontest.
WARNING: It is not possible to apply more than once for each edition. In that case all delegations presented by the same individual will not be considered for the competition. In case the Instagram profile you have used to apply to the competition should change its name or be deleted, you are requested to communicate it to the WRSC’s organization committee. In case you don’t communicate the change in three days, your application will be cancelled.
It is allowed to apply to the WRSC any song that can be identified as Rock or Metal, including any subgenre. Any song can be applied, regardless of its release date, as long as they’re falling in one of the genres previously cited. They are not allowed:
Remixes/covers of other songs
Different versions of the same song
Songs candidate to the Eurovision Song Contest
Songs candidate to ESC’s National Final entries
Songs not classified as Rock/Metal
Songs that already participated to the WRSC
In any case, the WRSC committee reserves the right to accept or refuse the application of a song.
A maximum of sixty (60) delegations is allowed to compete in the Preliminary Phase of the World Rock Song Contest. The Preliminary Phase will be conducted through televoting. At the end of the voting, the delegations ranked among the first thirty (30) positions will access the next phase.
In case any delegation should retire or be disqualified from the competition for any reason, the next delegation will take its place, following the official ranking’s order.
The Preliminary Phase will have a duration of fifteen (15) days, in which voting will take place. Any voting coming following the deadline won’t be considered in the final count. The voting results will be published in forty-eight hours (48hrs), from the end of the Preliminary Phase on the official WRSC’s Instagram profile, @worldrocksongcontest, and on the official website, sites.google.com/view/worldrocksongcontest.
WARNING: The candidate artists and their relative delegations CANNOT vote for their own song, otherwise they will be excluded from participating in the contest.
Are admitted to the semifinals only a maximum of thirty (30) delegations. As per the Preliminary Phase, the Semifinals will be conducted through televoting. The semifinals will be divided into a Round A and a Round B, each one composed of fifteen (15) delegations. The distribution of the delegation among the two rounds will be casual.
To access the next Phase of the competition, a delegation must be ranked among the first eight (8) in the Round A ranking, or among the first seven (7) in the Round B ranking.
Each semifinal will be lasting one week, during which participants will be allowed to express their votes. Each voting issued following the deadline, will not be considered in the final count. The voting results will be published on the WRSC’s Instagram profile, @worldrocksongcontest, and on the World Rock Song Contest’s official website, sites.google.com/view/worldrocksongcontest, in forty-eight hours (48hrs) from the ending of the last semifinal.

The access to the Grand Final is allowed only to the fifteen delegations who passed the Semifinal and the winner of the previous edition, as a Guest Star. As per the previous phases, the Grand Final will be conducted through televoting. ALL the delegations taking part to the contest, including those who didn’t pass the Preliminary Phase and the Semifinals are expected to express their vote.
The Grand Final will be lasting a week, during which voting is allowed. All votes issued after the deadline won’t be considered in the final count.
WARNING: As per the previous phases, the candidate artists and their relative delegations CANNOT vote for their own song, otherwise they will be excluded from participating in the contest.
At the end of the Grand Final, all votes will be counted and the Official Ranking will be presented. The final results will be published within a week from the end of the contest on the WRSC’s official Instagram profile, @worldrocksongcontest, as well as on the official website, sites.google.com/view/worldrocksongcontest. Together with the official ranking, it will be announced the winner of the edition, together with the hosting country and motto of the next edition.
WARNING: The winner of the edition cannot change delegation in the following edition. In case a winner wants to change delegation, they will lose their right to join the Grand Final, and will have to pass all the phases of the contest.
As previously stated, all phases will be conducted through televoting. Voting will be expressed through a Google form, whose link will be published on the official WRSC Instagram Profile, @worldrocksongcontest.
To vote, each participant will select ten delegations, and allocate for each a score going from one to eight (1-8), ten (10) or twelve (12) points. At the end of the voting, all scores issued will be added to define the ranking. In case multiple delegations receive the same score in the official ranking, the delegation receiving the most “12 points” votes will be ranked higher.
At the end of each phase, the updated ranking will be published on the WRSC’s official Instagram profile, @worldrocksongcontest, and on the WRSC’s official website, sites.google.com/view/worldrocksongcontest.
WARNING: Each delegation can receive only one score from 1-8, 10 or 12. No double scoring is allowed, otherwise all the participant’s votes will be cancelled.
The WRSC organization committee reserves the right to disqualify, and eventually ban from further participation, any participant with the purpose to ensure a pleasant and enjoyable development of the World Rock Song Contest. Besides the reasons already mentioned in the previous articles, possible reasons for disqualifications may be:
Disrespecting other participants, the organization, or the WRSC in general;
Sharing fake news or spreading drama about the contest or its participants;
Insulting other participants or the WRSC organization committee;
Sabotaging the contest by any mean;
Disrespecting or not following the current rules.
Disqualification can be issued only by the WRSC committee, as well as readmitting users eventually disqualified in previous editions.
In case a delegation or a band might be disqualified from the competition, this will be made known through the WRSC official Instagram Profile, @worldrocksongcontest, as well as the official website, sites.google.com/view/worldrocksongcontest. Furthermore, all votes assigned to the disqualified delegation/band will be invalidated.
In the case, for any reason, a delegation should risk disqualification because of the behaviour of the representing band, they are allowed to introduce a new band as a substitute for the previous one.
In case the winner of the contest, for any reason, should be disqualified from the competition, they will lose their right to choose the next hosting country, as well as their participation and access to the Grand Final for the following edition. In that case, the second delegation classified in the ranking will be considered the official winner.
