Colombian police say they have arrested a 40-year-old man attempting to smuggle several packets of cocaine hidden under a carefully attached wig.
Police said the suspect was detained at Cartagena airport on Monday as he prepared to board a flight to Amsterdam. A scanner detected the hidden cargo: 220 grams of cocaine packed in small packets strategically placed under what authorities described as a “drug bin.”
Police estimate the drugs’ value on European markets at around 10,000 euros ($10,500).
A video released by police on Monday captured the moment a blue-gloved officer carefully removed the suspect’s wig with scissors, revealing around a dozen packets of cocaine. Further police statements confirmed the suspect’s previous criminal record, which included two previous convictions for drug trafficking.
