Trump's taxes are a $1.4 trillion gamble on the economy and prices

President Donald Trump plans to deploy wide-ranging tariffs against America's largest three trading partners beyond any such action he took during his first period in office.

A critical moment exists for President Donald Trump to demonstrate his unconventional approach to utilizing tariffs through his self-proclaimed creation as “the greatest thing ever invented.”

Trump's pending extensive tariff policies represent an uncertain economic move which crosses the threshold of every economic strategy throughout his nearly five years as president. This economic strategy has the power to transform the most important issue for voters - the economy and cost of living.

A serious danger exists because Trump's protectiveness through tariffs might result in increasing grocery prices and causing market turbulence as well as workforce cuts from a complete trade conflict.

The trade strategy represents the biggest self-inflicted mistake yet according to Mary Lovely who serves as a senior fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics based on her interview with CNN. “This is a huge gamble. Using this approach would create economic deceleration together with heightened inflation rates.

The Wall Street Journal launched a severe evaluation through its Saturday edition with the article "The Dumbest Trade War in History."

An op-ed piece at The Wall Street Journal criticized how Trump's “economic assault” logic on Canada and Mexico lacked sense while predicting such a strategy to fail catastrophically.

A very different world

Trump considers tariffs to have mystical powers when negotiating with allies and it gives him tremendous bargaining strength.

He maintains that trade restrictions are essential tools for handling key problems about the trade imbalance and undocumented migration and drug smuggling.

The supporters of Trump correctly observe that his initial period of administration failed to produce detrimental inflation despite implementing tariffs.
