This gallery of sovereign state flags shows the national or state flags of sovereign states that appear on the list of sovereign states. For flags of other entities, please see gallery of flags of dependent territories. Each flag is depicted as if the flagpole is positioned on the left of the flag, except for those of Iran, Iraq and Saudi Arabia which are depicted with the hoist to the right.

From a user viewpoint, the benefit would be that the user could quickly get an idea of location (and therefore timezone, language, and currency) with a single click on the user symbol. Our site pretty much spans the world, so this would save users asking.

Some of the other sites I use have user selectable flags, but on many of them the user can select any flag they wish. This may allow them to express some personal allegiance, but it kind of defeats the main benefit to be had from having this kind of information.

I believe OP was talking about a plugin for phpBB. I used the same plugin on my forum before we changed over to Discourse a couple of weeks back. A few of the members mentioned they missed the flags, so last Friday I decided to jump in and have a go at a plugin for Discourse.

New data show that STIs are increasing in many regions. In 2022, WHO Member States set out an ambitious target of reducing the annual number of adult syphilis infections by ten-fold by 2030, from 7.1 million to 0.71 million. Yet, new syphilis cases among adults aged 15-49 years increased by over 1 million in 2022 reaching 8 million. The highest increases occurred in the Region for the Americas and the African Region.

Combined with insufficient decline seen in the reduction of new HIV and viral hepatitis infections, the report flags threats to the attainment of the related targets of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.

New data also show an increase in multi-resistant gonorrhoea. As of 2023, out of 87 countries where enhanced gonorrhoea antimicrobial resistance surveillance was conducted, 9 countries reported elevated levels (from 5% to 40%) resistance to ceftriaxone, the last line treatment for gonorrhoea. WHO is monitoring the situation and has updated its recommended treatment to reduce the spread of this multi-resistant gonorrhoea strain.

In 2022, around 1.2 million new hepatitis B cases and nearly 1 million new hepatitis C cases were recorded. The estimated number of deaths from viral hepatitis rose from 1.1 million in 2019 to 1.3 million in 2022 despite effective prevention, diagnosis, and treatment tools.

Efforts by countries and partners to expand STIs, HIV and hepatitis services are bringing formidable gains. WHO has validated 19 countries for eliminating mother-to-child transmission of HIV and/or syphilis, reflecting investments in testing and treatment coverage for these diseases among pregnant women. Botswana and Namibia are on the path to eliminating HIV, with Namibia being the first country to submit a dossier to be evaluated for the triple elimination of mother-to-child transmission of HIV, hepatitis B and syphilis.

Globally, HIV treatment coverage reached 76%, with 93% of people receiving treatment achieving suppressed viral loads. Efforts to increase HPV vaccination and screening for women with HIV are ongoing. Diagnosis and treatment coverage for hepatitis B and C have seen slight improvements globally.

This report which outlines progress implementation of the global health sector strategies on HIV, viral hepatitis and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) for 2022-2030 will be discussed at the Seventy-seventh World health Assembly.

In 2022, the Seventy-fifth World Health Assembly noted with appreciation the global health sector strategies, on, respectively, HIV, viral hepatitis and sexually transmitted infections (STIs), for the period 2022-2030. The strategies intend to guide the health sector in implementing strategically focused responses to achieve the goals of ending AIDS, viral hepatitis B and C and sexually transmitted infections by 2030, as part of efforts towards achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The strategies promote synergies across the disease areas under a universal health coverage framework and promote implementation under a primary health care approach.

The flag decals represent the countries of the students who have attended the University of Arizona, dating back to 2000. The flags aren't labeled, but appear in alphabetical order by country name. Visitors can easily find their home countries or simply take a shot at guessing which country is represented by each flag.

The idea came from Troy Vaughn, who started as director of Campus Recreation in July. In his first weeks at the UA, he noticed a group touring the Recreation Center. Some members of the group mentioned they were seeking a welcoming environment for international students.

"As a global studies and East Asian studies double major, I jumped on the opportunity to take a leading role with the Rec's international flags project and showcase the rich diversity and unity on our campus," she said. "I hope when others see the display, they too develop a greater awareness of and appreciation for our UA and global communities."

In addition to the flags in the Rec Center hallway, visitors will see a world map that also indicates students' countries of origin. Each country on the map has a number that corresponds with one of the flags lining the hallway.

"The smiles on the faces of students who came out for the opening ceremony, knowing that Arizona Global and Campus Rec have made a commitment to them, are immeasurable," he said. "It's our job to make students feel comfortable and welcome, and with this project, I feel we have gone a long way in doing just that."

Islamic symbols are found on the flags of 21 countries in sub-Saharan Africa, the Asia-Pacific region and the Middle East and North Africa. In Bahrain, the national flag features five white triangles, symbolizing the Five Pillars of Islam. Algeria, Turkey, Brunei and Uzbekistan are some of the many countries that include an Islamic star and crescent on their national flag.

Buddhist or Hindu religious symbols appear on five national flags; in three of those cases, the symbols apply to both religions. The Cambodian flag depicts Angkor Wat, a temple historically associated with both Hinduism and Buddhism, while in Nepal, the flag features both Buddhist and Hindu symbols to represent the two predominant religious groups in the country. And in India, the blue chakra at the center of the flag holds symbolic meaning for both Hindus and Buddhists.

The concept of a country, as it pertains to country flags, can vary based on different criteria and perspectives. In curating our selection, we aim for inclusivity and comprehensiveness. However, the inclusion of certain nations should not be interpreted as a political statement or as an endorsement of specific national claims. 7f9dd03232
