WORKSHOP SCHEDULE IS UPDATED
Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar, is one of the eight new IITs set up by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, in 2008 to enhance the quality of technical education in the country.
IIT Ropar is located in Rupnagar (formerly known as Ropar), a town in the district of Rupnagar. Rupnagar town is district Rupnagar's headquarters and is 42 km. from Chandigarh, the state capital. It is connected by road on National Highway NH-21. The Delhi-Ambala-Una railway line passes through Rupnagar and provides rail connectivity. The nearest airport is Chandigarh, at a distance of about 50 km.
The Department of Mathematics was established in 2009 to investigate interdisciplinary research and export high-quality education in the emerging areas of mathematical science. Faculty members of the department are active in several research areas, including pure and applied mathematics, probability and statistics, and theoretical computer science. The department has offered PhD programs since 2010, an MSc program from 2015, and a BTech in Math & Computing from 2019. Through summer internship programs, the department attracts students and faculty members from other institutes for short-term research projects. The department is also seeking post-doctoral fellows for independent research at IIT Ropar.
