Utah Valley University (UVU) requires all participants at conferences and events to maintain high standards of integrity, respect, and safety. The code prohibits discrimination, harassment, violence, and damage to property, while encouraging ethical, civil communication. Violations can lead to removal, sanctions, or legal action.
Key Aspects of the UVU Code of Conduct:
Respectful Behavior: Attendees must treat others with dignity and respect, fostering an environment free from intimidation, harassment, or retaliation.
Safety & Compliance: Participants must comply with all university policies and laws, including prohibitions against unauthorized alcohol, weapons, and dangerous activities.
Prohibited Conduct: Harassment, including unwelcome sexual attention or offensive verbal comments, is strictly prohibited.
Academic/Event Integrity: Disrupting events or engaging in dishonesty is not allowed.
Reporting: Suspected violations or unethical behavior should be reported to the appropriate university authority, such as the Student Conduct Office or University Compliance.
The 43rd Annual Workshop in Geometric Topology (WGT) to be held at Utah Valley University from June 18, 2026 to June 20, 2026 will not tolerate any type of discrimination or harassment based on the following categories: race, color, sex, religion, national origin, disability, age, genetic information, military or veteran status, ancestry, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression in employment, educational programs and activities, and admissions. In addition, the WGT will not tolerate sexual and/or gender-based harassment, discrimination and violence, including sexual assault, stalking, and dating or domestic violence, which are referred to in this policy as sexual misconduct. The WGT is committed to taking all appropriate steps to eliminate these forms of sexual misconduct, prevent their recurrence, and address their effects. This policy outlines WGT’s values, prohibited conduct, resources, and reporting options, and processes for reporting instances of discrimination and harassment.
This policy applies to all individuals associated with the WGT, including, but not limited to, speakers, faculty, graduate students, undergraduates, and attendees. This policy applies to both on-campus and off-campus conduct. In particular, off-campus conduct is subject to this policy if the conduct occurred in the context of an education program or activity of the WGT or had continuing adverse effects on participation in the program or activity.
The WGT will take immediate action in all allegations of discrimination and/or harassment including sexual and/or gender-based harassment, discrimination and violence, including sexual assault, stalking, and dating or domestic violence to protect the safety of the community and individuals involved. The WGT encourages anyone who has experienced, witnessed or has information pertaining to a potential violation of this policy to take an active role in reporting this behavior. The WGT speakers, faculty, graduate students, undergraduates, and attendees are encouraged to report information regarding an incident of sexual misconduct to designated employees of Oberlin College for the WGT. These reporting options are: University Compliance, UVU Equity and Title IX, and Local Conference organizer Wiktor Mogilski. The WGT recognizes, however, that an individual may choose to report to any College employee, even those not specifically designated as a reporting option. The WGT encourages all community members to take reasonable and prudent actions to prevent or stop an act of sexual misconduct. Community members who exercise this obligation will be supported by the WGT and protected from retaliation.
