In the framework of NATO Science for Peace and Security Programme, University La Sapienza (Dept. of Physics, SapienzaTerahertz Labs) and Graz University of Technology (Institute of Physical and Theoretical Chemistry, Falcaro's group) are pleased to announce the organization of an international Advanced Research Workshop on 16-18 September 2024 at University of Rome La Sapienza (Rome), Italy.

This advance research workshop "Multi-Messenger Monitoring for occupational health & safety" is organized in the framework of a SPS Multi-Year Project supported by NATO Science for Peace and Security programme seeing a collaboration between Sapienza University of Rome (Italy) and Graz University of Technology (Austria) for joining forces to strengthen health and safety in workplaces.

The aim of research workshop "Multi-Messenger Monitoring for occupational health & safety" is to promote new research and international scientific collaborations in the field of monitoring pathogens, VOCs and other chemical/organic hazards by innovative techniques, and provides a forum for scientists, industry practitioners, and involved institutions to discuss the state of the art and a possible roadmap of the sensing in the monitoring for occupational health & safety.

The main objectives of the Workshop (WS) are:

- Reach a common view of chemical and biological Sensing applications with a particular focus on the Occupational health & safety field;

- Identify the practical potential of biochemical sensing;

- Develop methodologies for assessing practical applications of bio/chemical sensing capabilities (benchmarking);

- Define the practical potential of sensing for monitoring a variety of substances and objects vs classical approaches;

- Evaluate field applications of all sensing technologies (taking techniques out of the lab, prototyping, transition to operational use);

- Discuss and plan together the future of these themes in the framework of the NATO SPS Program and its international collaborations with various institutions.

The WS is not limited to academic and scientific topics; It will provide the opportunity to share ideas/opinions and promote cross-fertilization between different communities (material and biophysics scientists, spin-offs, technology providers, experts, heads of R&D departments, etc.).
