The CNR Bologna Research Area is located in the northern outskirts of Bologna. It is one of the largest CNR facilities in Italy and hosts 9 research institutes, with at least three of them deeply involved in cutting-edge research topic related to meteorology, oceanography and climate (ISAC, ISMAR, ISP).
Plane
The Guglielmo Marconi International airport is served by most of the companies operating between Italy and the largest destinations in Europe. From the airport, you can reach the CNR Research Area by taxi or with the Marconi Express monorailway system to the main station, and then either by walking or taking the 87, 37 or 34 buses, operated by TPER.
Train
Bologna is at the core of the High Speed railway networks in Italy, with trains operated by Trenitalia and Italo to and from Rome, Milan, Venice, Florence and Naples up to 1 every 20 minutes. Other cities are also often covered during the day, e.g. Turin, Bergamo, Rimini, Verona, Trento, Bolzano. International connections are available between Bologna, Munich and Vienna.
Public Transport
The TPER public transport company operates the 87, 37 or 34 bus lines with a frequency up to a bus every 10 minutes between the main station-city center and the Bologna Research Area.
