3D-bioprinting is emerging as a promising new approach for fabricating complex 3D functional biomaterials for various pharmaceutical and biomedical applications. It involves precise and controlled layer-by-layer deposition of bioink (containing biocompatible materials, cells and supporting components) to create desired 3D structures including living tissues and organs. Additionally, there is considerable potential of 3D-bioprinting of tissues and organs in building better disease models and can address the specific need of tissue engineering and organ regeneration for transplantation. Over the years, the technique has flourished dramatically both in technology and methodological fronts. Therefore, there is growing need to create awareness in the area of principles and interdisciplinary applications of 3D-bioprinting among young researchers working at various academic institutions and technical universities of higher learning and translational biomedical research. This workshop is a small endeavor in this direction.

CBMR aims to create opportunity for extraordinary talented scientists to research at the frontiers of the interface of chemical, biological, biomedical sciences and NMR spectroscopy. The centre will focus research in interfacing small molecule synthesis with biology for developing future medicine and therapies. It would endeavour inventing efficient ways to deliver drugs to their targets, probe cellular reactions in intact biological systems with small molecules and establish new high throughput technologies for synthesis of structurally diverse structures and their bio-screening. CBMR also aims to reach out to universities, research institutions and industrial organizations with periodic continuing-education programs for proper utilization of the national resources.
