Let's call this "How it All Got Started with My Employer".
For years, my employer had been understanding of my obligations outside of work, but then a new administration came along and didn't seem to have the same perspective.
In 2015, I had to go away for required training for three months.
I submitted my written notice and orders more than a month in advance.
A day or two before I was to leave, I followed up with my employer.
My employer called me and indicated that I had not given proper notice. We talked about the situation.
The next day I had a scheduled day off from work to finish packing and to leave in time to report to my training, but my employer called me AGAIN literally as I was trying to get out the door.
They told me they thought I should come in to talk to them. That was funny, because I was talking to them on the phone.
Why did I need to come in? Coming in would make me late to my duty. And what was so urgent that it couldn't wait until Monday?
What did they really want? You can judge for yourself.
