Matthew 28:19–20
"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations... teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you."
Imagine a soldier who trains for years but never enters the battlefield.
A doctor who studies medicine but never treats patients.
Or a teacher who learns everything about teaching but never teaches anyone.
Training without sending is incomplete.
In the same way, discipleship was never meant to end with attending classes, taking notes, or completing lessons.
Jesus trained His disciples so that He could send them.
Tonight is not the end of your discipleship journey.
Tonight is your COMMISSIONING.
You are no longer only students.
You are now being sent as disciple-makers.
Jesus never commanded His followers to simply attend church.
He never said, “Go and make church attenders.”
He said:
“Go and make disciples.”
In 2 Timothy 2:2, Paul told Timothy:
"The things that you have heard from me... commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also."
Notice the pattern:
Paul taught Timothy
Timothy taught faithful men
Faithful men taught others
That is discipleship multiplication.
Christianity spread across the world because disciples made disciples.
The church grows when believers pass on what they have received.
John 15:8
"By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit."
God never intended spiritual growth to stop with us.
A healthy tree bears fruit.
A healthy disciple helps others grow.
Many Christians spend years receiving:
Sermons
Bible studies
Conferences
Teachings
But eventually God asks:
"Who are you helping follow Jesus?"
The greatest evidence that discipleship has worked is not how much Bible you know.
It is whether you are helping someone else follow Christ.
What God taught you, teach to someone else.
What God did in your life, share with someone else.
1 Corinthians 11:1
"Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ."
Jesus did more than preach sermons.
He walked with people.
He ate with them.
He corrected them.
He encouraged them.
He prayed with them.
Discipleship is relational.
That is why D-Groups are important.
A D-Group is not merely a Bible study.
It is spiritual family.
As leaders, you will:
Pray for people
Encourage people
Teach people
Follow up people
Help people grow
The goal is not to make people dependent on you.
The goal is to help them become strong followers of Christ.
A true mentor eventually says:
"Now it's your turn."
Mark 3:14
"He appointed twelve, that they might be with Him and that He might send them out."
Notice the order:
Be with Jesus
Learn from Jesus
Be sent by Jesus
That is exactly what happened in this discipleship training.
You have learned.
You have grown.
You have been equipped.
Now you are being sent.
Your friends, relatives, coworkers, classmates, and neighbors are your mission field.
Some people may never listen to a pastor. But they may listen to you.
Some may never enter a church building. But they may enter your D-Group.
God uses ordinary believers to reach ordinary people.
Some of you may be thinking:
"I am not ready."
"I still have weaknesses."
"I don't know enough."
Remember the disciples.
Peter failed.
Thomas doubted.
Matthew had a sinful past.
Yet Jesus still used them.
God is not looking for perfect people.
God is looking for available people.
If you make yourself available, God will use you.
We are here today because somebody shared the Gospel.
Somebody prayed.
Somebody discipled.
Somebody followed up.
Somebody invested in us.
Now it is our turn.
The baton is being passed to you today.
Do not allow what God deposited in your life to stop with you.
Pass it on.
Teach others.
Lead others.
Disciple others.
Multiply what God has done in your life
Graduation is not the finish line.
It is the starting line.
You were not trained merely to know more Bible.
You were trained to help build the Kingdom of God.
Today you are being sent:
To lead
To teach
To mentor
To follow up
To disciple
To multiply
Remember:
A disciple follows Jesus.
A mature disciple helps others follow Jesus.
But a disciple-maker raises new disciple-makers.
Church, congratulations on completing your discipleship training.
Now go and make disciples.
God bless you.
