That's our foundation, we're created in His Image.
Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
GENESIS 1:26-27
From the very beginning, your identity did not come from people, pain, or performance - it came from God Himself.
You are not an accident.
You are a reflection.
Image (Hebrew: tselem) = representation, shadow, likeness
Likeness = resemblance in nature and character
This means:
You were created to reflect God's nature
You were designed to carry His presence
You were formed with value, authority, and purpose
Like a mirror reflects a face, humanity was created to reflect God
But when sin entered, the mirror was cracked - not destroyed
We got distorted when sin attacked our identity
Genesis 3:4-5 says "You will be like God..."
The enemy didn't attack Adam and Eve's strength -
he attacked their IDENTITY
Sin doesn't just make you do wrong - it makes you believe wrong about who you are.
They were already like God... but they were deceived into thinking they weren't enough.
The same lie still operates today:
You're not enough
You need to prove yourself
You have no value
"A counterfeit bill looks real - but it has no authority."
When we believe lies about our identity, we live beneath our God-given authority.
This is called redemption, restoring your identity to God.
2 Corinthians 5:17
"If anyone is in Christ, he is now a new creation..."
Colossians 1:15
"He is the image of the invisible God..."
Jesus didn't just come to forgive us - He came to restore identity
Jesus is the perfect image of God - and in Him, you image is restored
Through Christ:
You are not broken - you are redeemed
You are not rejected - you are accepted
You are not lost - you are found
Romans 8:29
"...to be conformed to the image of His Son..."
Salvation is not just about heaven - it's about becoming like Jesus again.
"A damage painting restored by the original artist regains its full beauty and value."
God is restoring you to His original design.
John 1:12
"To all who received Him... He gave the right to become children of God."
Romans 8:15
"You received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, 'Abba, Father.'"
Your identity is not just "created by God" - it is belonging to God
You are chosen (1 Peter 2:9)
You are royal (royal priesthood)
You are loved (Ephesians 2:4-5)
You are God's workmanship (Ephesians 2:10)
"You don't work for identity - you work from identity."
An orphan strives for acceptance.
A son/daughter lives from acceptance.
This is your battle to protect your identity daily.
Romans 12:2
"Be transformed by the renewing of your mind..."
You identity in God is established - but your mind must be renewed to walk in it.
If the enemy can't steal your salvation, he will try to confuse your identity.
How to guard your identity:
Stay in the Word (truth defines idenity)
Reject lies quickly
Surround yourself with godly voices
Walk in obedience (identity is strengthened through action)
"A lion raised among sheep may act like a sheep - until it sees its reflection."
You need to see yourself in God's Word to walk in who you truly are.
That's our manifestation... to live out God's image.
Matthew 5:14
"You are the light of the world..."
"God didn't just restore your identity for you - He restored it for IMPACT'"
When you know who you are, you start living like Him
You love like Him
You forgive like Him
You walk in authority
You carry His presence into every room
Identity produces behavior
We are made in the image of God
We are not what we've been through
We are God says who we are
We are redeemed, restored, and renewed.
We carry His presence.
"Some of us have been living under a "labels" that God never gave us...
broken,
rejected,
not enough...
But today, God is restoring our identity.
The same God who said, 'Let us make man in our image' is saying today,
'Let restore what was lost."
We have to renounce your false identities,
then received the identity of Christ and commit to walking in truth.
"You don't find your identity in the world - you reveal your identity from heaven"
