“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age”
Matthew 28:19–20.
VISION
To disciple others in loving God and loving people by evangelizing, baptizing and teaching them to observe what Christ has commanded.
MISSION
To be a Christ-centered church that makes disciples out of love of God and His people.
WHAT IS DISCIPLESHIP?
Jesus defined it in the Great Commission; He commanded us to do three things:
· Evangelize (“make disciples”)
· Baptize (“baptizing them”)
· Teach (“teaching them”)
Discipleship can be defined as “investing into others by teaching them to observe all that Jesus has commanded of us in order to multiply ourselves into them.”
Jesus told us to go and make disciples as he knew that was how the Good News would be spread to all the nations and discipleship is how it would be shared from one person to another through relationships.
THE BIBLE
Is from a Greek word biblion(singular) meaning book or roll. Its plural form is called biblia (compilation of books) which indicate all the books of the Old and New Testament.
Scripture comes from the Greek word “graphe” which means “writing”
The Bible is composed of books divided into two major parts: the Old Testament and the New Testament
It was written by forty (40) different authors from different vocations and different generations and all of them were inspired by the Holy Spirit.
Why does the Bible exist? To reveal Himself to us through it. This is what we call Revelation.
REVELATION
Revelation is from the Greek word apokalupsis. It means “disclosure” or “unveiling.”
It signifies God’s unveiling of Himsel to mankind. Revelation is both “General” and “Special”
1. GENERAL REVELATION: God revealing certain aspects and truth about His nature to all humanity. (Psalm 19:1-6)
The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun. It is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, like a champion rejoicing to run his course. It rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other; nothing is deprived of its warmth. Psalms 19:1-6
God reveals Himself through nature, through the universe, through the human body, through his providential control and through conscience.
2. SPECIAL REVELATION: The salvation plan of God; the will of God. It is restricted to Jesus Christ and the Scriptures.
Special revelation is need because of the fall of man. To restore the fallen humanity, God revealed the way of salvation and reconciliation through the person of Jesus Christ
God used men, disciples, apostles, and prophets to speak His words and His covenants. Exodus 20:1, Deut 29:1, Deut 31:24 are examples that reflect the propositional nature of special revelation about God speaking through words.
