Imagine two men standing before a judge.
The first man is standing under a long written list of laws. Every item he has failed. Every requirement he has broken. The law is not bending—it is declaring guilt.
The second man steps forward. He has no record of his own righteousness. But he is standing beside someone else—one who has already satisfied every requirement on his behalf.
The judge speaks:
“One man represents condemnation. The other represents justification.”
The question is not only what they have done.
The question is what realm they are standing in.
This is the heart of Romans 5:
Humanity is either in Adam or in Christ.
The apostle Paul the Apostle in Romans 5:12–21 reveals one of the deepest truths in Scripture:
There are two spiritual systems operating over humanity:
Adam: condemnation, sin, and death
Christ: righteousness, life, and grace
This is not merely moral teaching.
It is spiritual position.
You are either:
under Adam’s headship,
or
in Christ’s headship.
One man brought condemnation to all.
The law reveals sin but cannot remove it.
One Man brings justification and life.
From Genesis onward, Scripture presents two representative heads:
Adam: the first man, the fallen head of humanity
Christ: the second Man, the heavenly Head of a new humanity
The law of Moses later enters history, not to save, but to expose sin.
Thus humanity experiences:
Adam → sin enters
Law → sin is revealed
Christ → sin is removed
This structure forms the backbone of redemptive history.

“By one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin…”
The Greek word eiserchomai (entered) means:
to come in fully,
to invade,
to establish rule.
Sin is not just an action.
It is a governing power introduced through Adam.
“By the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation…”
The word katakrima means:
a legal verdict of guilt,
a sentence already pronounced.
A newborn child does not need to learn rebellion to be part of humanity.
It is born into a fallen system.
It inherits:
nature,
position,
and condition.
In Adam:
guilt is inherited,
death is guaranteed,
separation from God is natural.
Adam is not just a historical figure.
Adam is a spiritual position.
“The law entered, that the offence might abound…”
The Greek word pareiserchomai means:
to come alongside temporarily.
The law does not replace Adam’s problem.
It exposes Adam’s problem.
“The ministration of death, written and engraven in stones…”
The law reveals:
sinfulness,
inability,
condemnation.
“He that believeth not is condemned already…”
The word “already” is critical:
Condemnation is not future—it is present under Adam.
A mirror does not create dirt on your face.
It reveals it.
The law is a mirror.
It exposes what is already there.
The law:
diagnoses sin,
but cannot heal sin.
The law is holy—but powerless to save.
“They which receive abundance of grace… shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.”
The Greek word perisseia means:
overflowing abundance.
Grace is not limited—it overflows.
“The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free…”
There are three laws:
Law of sin and death
Law of Moses
Law of Spirit of life
Only one liberates.
“Grace reigns through righteousness unto eternal life…”
Grace does not just forgive.
Grace reigns.
Imagine two kingdoms:
One ruled by debt collectors
One ruled by a king who cancels all debt and gives inheritance
Citizens do not work their way into the kingdom.
They are transferred into it.
In Christ:
condemnation is removed,
righteousness is gifted,
life replaces death.
Christ is not an improvement of Adam.
Christ is a new creation reality.
You are not defined by Adam.
Condemnation is a position in Adam, not your destiny in Christ.
Reject guilt-based identity and embrace Christ-based identity.
The law reveals sin but cannot remove it.
Trying to earn righteousness produces frustration.
Stop relying on self-effort for acceptance before God.
Grace is not only forgiveness—it is empowerment.
In Christ, you are transferred into a new spiritual system.
Walk daily in dependence on Christ’s life, not Adam’s nature.
Jesus Christ is:
the Second Adam (1 Corinthians 15:45),
the Head of a new humanity,
the source of righteousness,
the One who breaks condemnation,
the One who fulfills the law on our behalf.
Through Christ:
Adam is defeated,
the law is fulfilled,
grace reigns,
life is restored.
You are not just improving your life in religion.
You have been transferred from one realm to another.
From Adam to Christ.
From condemnation to justification.
From death to life.
From law to grace.
So stop identifying with what Christ has already broken.
You are no longer under Adam’s sentence.
You are under Christ’s righteousness.
“I am no longer in Adam.
I am in Christ.
I am not under condemnation.
I am under grace.
The law no longer defines me.
Christ defines me.
Death no longer reigns over me.
Life reigns in me.
I walk in the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus.
I am justified freely by His grace.
I reign in life through Jesus Christ alone.”
Go forward not as one under Adam,
but as one established in Christ.
Not under condemnation,
but under grace.
Not under law,
but under life.
For in Christ Jesus,
you are not surviving—you are reigning in life.
