Before you upload any images to your website it's important that they have been sized correctly and optimised.

See the following tutorials for sizing and optimising images:

Adding Metadata To Your Images

Once an image has been uploaded you should attach apply metadata information to the image so search engines understand what the image is about.

Select an image in your image library and edit the following fields in the right hand column.

  1. Title: Add a descriptive title and include the keyword people would use to find the image.
  2. Alt Text: The alt text explains to search engines what the image is. Write a good description and include a keyword people would use to search for the image.
  3. Description: Simply copy and paste the Alt Text into this field.
  4. Media Category: Assign the image to the relevant media category. Categorising images will make searching for the images easier, especially if your site has many images.

Note: Everytime you make a change they are automatically saved.

If you want to add more media categories see tutorial Adding Media Categories.
