FAQ's

We are a non-profit 100% volunteer organization composed of parents just like you. We are organized into an Executive Board and standing committees to plan our events and fundraising. We work with administrators, teachers, staff, and families to create a positive atmosphere for learning. We sponsor a variety of activities and programs that provide organized social functions, extracurricular educational programs and a volunteer parent network. We also use funds to purchase additional items not allocated by the district budget, but used by our faculty and students such as art supplies, gym equipment, and curriculum enhancement tools.

Use the Worcester Child Check Line by calling 610.831.5327 to report an absence or morning tardy. Fill out this form for a Change in Dismissal. Worcester Home and School secretaries are not building secretaries. 

You should use Konstella to reach out to other parents in the Worcester community. Some may have their phone numbers or email addresses available for viewing in the app, while others may not and you may need to send a private message. We don't distribute contact information and we no longer publish a printed directory.

Your main source of information will be through Principal Amici's weekly newsletter, sent via- email, as well as weekly/bi-weekly reminder emails created by the Home and School Association that will be available via Konstella and emailed to all Konstella users. 

Our Home and School Vice-Presidents are responsible for managing our Committees and volunteers. You can email them at worcesterhomeandschoolvp@gmail.com. 

Our goal is to engage with as many of our parents, teachers, and staff as possible. We have found that our parents are more likely to be available virtually during the evenings. We occasionally will arrange an in-person meeting or get together, and will notify our community if we plan to do so. 

Each classroom has a Homeroom Lead and Homeroom parents (3-5) who coordinate classroom parties and "staff" any volunteer roles that the teacher/classroom might need. You must indicate your interest in being a Homeroom Lead or Homeroom parents at the beginning of the school year. Unless the Homeroom Lead/parents need additional assistance and look for help, they are the parents who will be volunteering in the classroom for those parties. You can spend time with your child in the lunchroom, in the library, or at another in-school event, such as AgLab, Field Day or Fun Day. 

The Methacton Coordinating Council (MCC) is the overseeing body for all of the Home and School Departments in the school district. Each school in the district has a Home and School, and the Methacton Special Education Alliance (SEA) is also considered a department. The object of the MCC is to "use the power of unified planning and pooled resources to address the concerns and issues of the Methacton School District." The MCC has an elected board of volunteer parents, and meets throughout the year to discuss district matters and help the Home and School departments run. Each Home and School department sends a representative to those meetings. Throughout the year, Worcester's Home and School may reach out to the other departments to ask a question or align on an important issue. We also try to make sure that we are helping our families transition from one school to the next when the time comes.

The corresponding secretary is responsible for correspondence and communications, such as posting updates on Konstella and helping with event flyers. The recording secretary is responsible for taking notes at meetings and circulating those notes, in addition to taking on any special project as assigned by the President or Vice-President. 

Homeroom Leads may decide to collect money from parents for their classroom teacher for a gift on behalf of the class, but we don't require nor discourage this. You should reach out in advance of the holidays or the end of the year if you have a question about this.
