Please welcome Deputy Corey Halwick to the Onteora school community. Deputy Halwick started his new appointment as a School Resource Officer (SRO) at Woodstock Elementary School. 

Deputy Halwick is no stranger to our area. He grew up locally, in the Town of Ulster, and began a career in law enforcement in 2005 when he was hired by the Ulster County Sheriff's Office as a part-time deputy. In 2010, he officially became a part of the Town of Woodstock community—first as a part-time police officer, and then in 2013, as a full-time police officer. 

Deputy Halwick transferred to the Sheriff's Office in 2025. He has many talents and skills. Currently, he is assigned to the Ulster County Emergency Response Team (UCERT), as well as the Marine Unit and the In-Water Rescue Team (IWRT) as a boat operator, rescue diver, and swift water technician!

When he is not busy in law enforcement, Woodstock Elementary School’s new SRO enjoys spending time with his family and working on home improvement projects. “I am excited about my new role as an SRO,” he said. “I look forward to being able to establish a positive relationship between the students and the law enforcement community.”
