A motif in Rana's work is a figure with an elongated neck, which is based on traditional Tepa Putul dolls made of clay. Having experienced abuse due to their vocal cord dysfunction (VCD), Rana reclaims the Tepa Putul as a figure of power, complexity and diversity.

Rana is a multi-disciplinary artist whose work comments on our relationships with our bodies as human constructs, built through intersections of ability, gender and storytelling.
Rana frequently features figures from South Asian and European folklore, myth and legend in their work.
