Travel

From Lisbon Airport (LIS), 'Aeroporto da Portela', you can get to Coimbra by Train (recommended) from 'Oriente' Station or by bus. From the airport you can get the subway to 'Oriente' railway station, or go by taxi or bus.

From Porto Airport (OPO), 'Aeroporto Sá Carneiro', you can get to Coimbra by Train (recommended) from 'Porto - Campanhã' Station or by bus. From the airport you can get the subway to  'Porto - Campanhã'  railway station, or go by taxi or bus.

There are two railways stations to be considered: 'Coimbra B' on the main line (Lisboa - Porto) and 'Coimbra A' on a short branch from the main line to the city center.

Travelling by car: Check Google Maps for directions. On the "TO" field replace with 'Departamento de Matemática - Universidade de Coimbra' for the venue of the conference at Department of Mathematics of the University of Coimbra.

Department of Mathematics of the University of Coimbra

The Department of Mathematics of the University of Coimbra is located in the main campus of the University of Coimbra, known as "Pólo I". This area is served by two city buses: line 28, which connects the center of Coimbra with the historical area of the University of Coimbra. Other city buses do not go through the main campus itself, but the stop "Arcos do Jardim" is situated at a 2 minute walk from the Department of Mathematics:

    Line 5: Pedrulha - Estádio
    Line 11: Arnado - Bairro Norton de Matos
    Line 24: Arnado - Quinta da Nora
    Line 24T: Bairro Norton de Matos - Palácio da Justiça.

The Department of Mathematics offers degrees in pure and applied mathematics and computer science. Is also responsible for almost all Mathematics courses taught in the Faculty of Sciences and Technology, as well as for the courses in the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Pharmacy. The scientific output of the researchers at the Department of Mathematics has received the highest classifications from the international evaluation committees held by the 'Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia', the Portuguese funding agency for science and technology.

The University of Coimbra was founded in 1290, is one of the oldest in the world and also the oldest of the country. For it's outstanding and exceptional value, the University of Coimbra, Alta and Sofia is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage since June 2013.

Coimbra

Coimbra is a district capital, the largest city of the Centre Region of Portugal with around 150 000 inhabitants.
