AP1 COURSE OVERVIEW

AP Physics 1 is a full year, 7.5 period per week course, offered by the College Board, that is equivalent to a one semester non-calculus based college physics. Students interested in majoring in Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Research, Biology, Pre-Medical, Dental, Nursing, Physical Therapy,  Sports Medicine or other STEM related field who wish to be better prepared when the time comes for them to take their college's Calculus-based introductory Physics course. 

In this algebra and trigonometry based course, students will be covering a majority of this course material without calculus, allowing them to focus on scientific principles and the physical laws that govern them.  As students begin to search for colleges, it is very important to realize that different universities view Advanced Placement credit in different ways.  Therefore, it is essential that the degree of credit granted to the student based on a particular AP grade be clearly understood at the outset.  Thus, it is essential to be aware of the policies of your college(s) of choice regarding AP grades and course exemptions.
