We're so excited you're thinking of joining the Womxn's Online Go Club! Everyone is welcome. Answers to some commonly asked questions about membership are below.
Complete our new member survey and send $5 in dues to the Chair. If you're an AGA member, you can change your chapter affiliation to Womxn's Online Go Club.
No! The WOGC was founded by women looking for a supportive online place to play go in a club setting. We also know from our own experiences that clubs primarily made up of cis-men do not always translate to a comfortable place for women and girls to play. We are focused on providing a place for women and individuals excluded from traditionally patriarchal spaces to play go and form community bonds. Anyone is welcome to join as long as they support that goal.
Yes, members pay $5 annually for membership. Dues go towards our AGA chapter fees. All surpluses will go back into the club, for things like Zoom, AI reviews, and pro lectures. If you do not feel like you are financially able to afford the dues but are otherwise interested, please contact us.
We're happy to have you join us as a guest to try us out! We love new faces and we will always welcome guests and potential members. Email us directly for the link to the club meeting if you're not yet a member and want to give it a try.
Once you've tried us out once or twice, we ask that you become a member by paying your dues, and keep your membership in good standing as long as you are attending. Dues are minimal but are important to keep our club established.
Yes! We know that many people have local clubs. You can come to WOGC in addition to your other club meetings. The only conundrum you'll have is what to list as your official AGA chapter, since you can only list one officially. (You don't have to list us to be a member, although we appreciate it if you do!)
No! All our activities are online. However, since the founders are all in the United States and it's an AGA chapter, WOGC meetings will be in those timezones. We try to schedule our meetings to allow for members on both coasts of the United States to attend without getting too late or conflicting with the work day.
Yes! We welcome players at all levels. We're happy to teach you the rules and we can help you get started. If you need additional help getting ready for our meetings, feel free to send us an email.
