The Women in Network Science (WiNS) Book Club is an opportunity to share experiences, reflect on current issues, and connect with one another. This session will be led by Mariana Macedo, Sofia Teixeira, and Haily Merritt, but the focus is on creating a space for open conversation and getting to know each other.
If you are interested in participating, please get in touch via email or the WiNS Slack:
Our second book is Emergent Strategy by Adrienne Maree Brown.
Why did we pick this book? It discusses how small actions can create big changes, and it offers a new way of thinking about Complex Systems.
To participate, you need to be part of WiNS and be on our slack. The zoom link will be only shared via our private group to ensure a safe environment for attendees.
Our first book was On Connection by Kae Tempest.
Why did we pick this book? As network scientists, we study connections. Yet rarely in our analyses do we acknowledge the power our connections in real life have. We hope that reading this book allows us to reflect on life, our behavior, and our desires from a perspective outside academia.
Before diving into the book, we invite you for a happy hour on October 8th at 6:00 PM UK / 7:00 PM CET / 1:00 PM Boston. At the happy hour, we will coordinate to schedule the meeting time of the book club. To participate, you need to be part of WiNS and be on our slack. The zoom link will be only shared via our private group to ensure a safe environment for attendees.
