Women in Macroeconomics is a network dedicated to connecting junior and senior women working in macroeconomics across universities, research centres, policy institutions, and central banks.
Our mission is to foster a strong and supportive professional community where women in macroeconomics can connect, collaborate, share experiences, and promote each other’s work. By bringing together scholars and practitioners at different career stages, we aim to strengthen mentoring, encourage new research collaborations, and create opportunities for professional development and visibility in the field.
Macroeconomics plays a central role in understanding the major challenges facing societies today, from inflation and financial stability to inequality, climate risks, and growth. Diverse voices are essential to shaping the future of the profession. This network seeks to support women in contributing fully to these debates and in thriving across academic and policy environments.

Organise an annual workshop to bring the community together and strengthen professional connections
One of the core activities of the network is the annual workshop, designed to bring together women in macroeconomics for discussion, research exchange, mentoring, and professional networking.
The workshop was first launched online in 2025, creating an initial space for connection across institutions and career stages. Building on that foundation, the 2026 workshop will be held in person at the Central Bank of Ireland on 24 April 2026. This event will provide an opportunity to strengthen the community further, encourage new collaborations, and support the visibility and advancement of women in the profession.
