Over the years, opportunities for women in the tech industry have increased to a great extent. However, there are a massive number of cases across the globe where women are considered insignificant in this walk of professionalism. I have come across a number of examples in real life wherein women are considered inferior to that of men working in the same organization, even though women may possess superior knowledge and accreditations in the particular field. Many a times, suggestions and inputs put forth by the female members of team in the tech field are valued less and their voices are suppressed very often. Furthermore, women often need to struggle to find themselves a space at the leading positions in the tech industry irrespective of their qualifications and educational backgrounds. These are some of the many issues and obstacles which women have to surpass to acquire a normal and convincing professional career in the tech industry.
As a woman, I feel one of the best ways to overcome these issues would be to enforce strict norms and rules which encourage and promote a sense of equality among male and female workers across the technical industries. If I were to lead organizations and institutions in the tech field, I would conduct interactive events like ice-breaker sessions, hackathons, etc. at frequent intervals wherein, male and female employees are grouped up together. This would help break the stigma of egoism and would clear all barriers that pose a challenge for women to voice out their opinions and soar high. Policies and regulations can be revamped to include efficient and diligent female members of the team at the managerial and leadership posts as this would help them to set examples and would drive the fellow female workers who feel suppressed in the technical work environment. Most importantly, I would encourage the male workers to have a broader perspective and a positive outlook so as to accept female employees as their fellow co workers and not as inferior entities of the company. And on the contrary, I would insist the female workers to always take a step ahead and to never shy out and to make sure that they’re heard and accepted in the workspace. After all, when unit meets diversity, majority of the above-mentioned issues and challenges will come to a rest on its own.
