Introduction

Hello,

My name is Lakshmi, and I am the goddess of wealth, fortune, and prosperity. I have been thinking a lot about reflection lately and decided to put together a collection of all of the wonderful stories I have in order to look back on my life. I will also include pages dedicated solely to me and my family in order to use this website as my social media platform.

Before we get started, I should probably give you some background information about myself. First, I am most well known for being the goddess of wealth, fortune, and prosperity, but I represent so much more. I go by many names, such as Shri and Gajalakshmi, and my name appears throughout several famous Hindu stories. My mother and father are Samudra and Tirangini, but I was not born in a traditional way. I emerged from an ocean along with many other famous entities in Hinduism. If you want to read more about my emergence, head over to story one! I have a wonderful husband named Vishnu. If he sounds familiar, that is because he is also a supreme being in Hinduism. He is the god of protection, preservation of food, and dharma restoration. I'll mention him in my stories, and I will go into more detail about our relationship and how we came to be.We have one child, and his name is Kamadeva. He is the god of human love and desire. He is usually hanging with Rati, his female counterpart.

I will also mention him in a few of the stories in order to give you a better idea of my family and our role in the Hindu world. I have one brother named Brahma. He is the god of creation, vedas, and dharma. He has four faces so he is very hard to miss. I will bring him up in many stories as well as he is also a principal deity in Hinduism.

Lastly, I have three mounts which I use as transportation and companionship. They are the elephant, the owl, and Garuda. I'll explain how I came to have each one of them as mounts and what they mean to me throughout my stories. Many of my past experiences have become traditions for humans in the modern world and my stories are used as lessons for young children. I cannot wait to share them all with you and give you insight on what it is like to be one of the supreme beings in Hinduism.

Author's Notes: I originally intended to make a storybook about all of the women in the Indian Epics, but I quickly became fascinated with Lakshmi and decided to do a collection of stories from her point of view. Many of the stories I choose will focus on the women, and I will have Lakshmi describe the women in great detail as they will be portrayed as her friends. Everything in the introduction is from her Wikipedia page.Bibliography: Lakshmi's Wikipedia PageImage Information: Google Image
