Founded in 1997, Shakespeare in the Dark is William & Mary’s on-campus student-run theatre company that specializes in original interpretations of Shakespeare and other classical theatre! We produce three shows per year, one in the fall semester and two in the spring.

William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet is one of the bard's most famous tragedies. Centered around the eponymous Romeo and Juliet, the two children of eternally opposing families find love amidst the growing violence of the feud around them.Directed by Abigail Walter's, SitD's 2026 fall production of Romeo and Juliet positions the famous star-crossed lovers as part of great northeastern American political dynasties of the 1960s. More information about Romeo & Juliet will be made available after summer!
